The Eighth Crusade was organized by Louis IX in 1270 to go to the aid of the remains of the crusader states in Syria. However, the entire crusade was diverted to Tunis, where Louis spent only two months before dying but for his efforts Louis was canonized. The Eighth Crusade is sometimes counted as the Seventh, if the Fifth and Sixth Crusades are counted as a single crusade.
