The Fourth Crusade in 1202 was originally designed to conquer Muslim Jerusalem by invading Egypt. Yet, when all of the crusaders were ready to go to take back the Holy Land instead of going there, in April of 1204, the Crusaders invaded and conquered the Christian city of Constantinople, the capitol of the Byzantine Empire. This is one of the last acts by the Roman Catholic Church against the Eastern Orthodox Church.
